So ok, it has been a while since I posted anything here. The reason? The last few weeks have been an up and down roller coaster ride of emotions and happenings. Let me explain.
On Wed Oct 3 I was told that I was to take 2 weeks of unpaid leave from my company. This kinda put me into a tailspin for a few days. After the smoke cleared I focused on the task at hand..look for a job just in case. Luckily it didn't come to that. The next Friday I received a call from my boss telling me that it was now safe to return to work since the project I was working on was sold to another company (me included). I'm not at liberty to say who I am working for yet but it looks like it will be a great place to be. So, last week I spent the whole time getting ready for the transition period. On Friday I ceased to be an employee of the company that took a chance on me right out of school. Sad, but life marches on. So, on the 22nd of this month I officially changed companies. The best part of this switch is the fact that I am now a bon-a-fide Engineer (with a capital E). Somehow I negotiated a raise, I ROCK! The biggest problem is remembering how to answer the phone. I slipped up a bunch of times already. Confuses the hell out of those who are calling. Oh, another annoying part of changing companies is the paperwork. Think back to the first day of any grade in elementary school. Remember all those forms you filled out? I’m doing it again. I filled one out that looked like one of the old school forms. It was the one about emergency contacts. Very weird.
Now you should all be caught up with me.
So, I now work for a French company. I guess I have to start drinking wine and looking down on people now (kidding). I talked to Angie about this last night. By the way before I forget, Thanks Ang.. I needed a night out even if it only was for an hour or so. Apt life gets kinda lonely sometimes.
In a few days I head up to Boston to visit Al! This is exciting cuz it's the first time I will get paid to go take a day off. Did I mention I LOVE being salaried?
DAILY TIP FOR THE PUBLIC:
If you ever become a health care professional and administer drug tests please remember one thing: You should NOT use the area that people use to eat in as your staging area and laboratory!!! I don’t think I am ever going to eat in the break room ever again. Something about seeing containers of pee on the table you just ate at just puts me off. Am I wrong on this? I mentioned this to the person guarding the “test material” baggie and she looked at me as if I was nuts.
Well, seeing as it is 9:30 or so I guess I should wrap this up so I can get back to paying bills, filling out forms, and doing laundry.
