Well, the axe came down hard today on the switch team. 50% of the team will not have to report to work on Monday. However, I was not let go. So, I guess that's good. But, I will miss the guys that were let go. I can honestly say that the people on this team are like a second family to me. It really hurt to say good-bye to them. I wish them the best. The people that were left were in a daze the rest of the day. One of the guys I work closely with was in tears because one of the guys let go was someone he had worked with before. The same thing happened there as well. I almost feel guilty for not being let go. I had the least to lose. I have to kids or wife. Nobody depends on me like that. It really isn’t fair. The weird part is that it looks like it was only the switch team that lost a lot of people. So now we have 3 engineers, no design drafter and even less time to get the damn thing ramped up. This is my mission, if I choose to accept it. It's going to take a while for me to fell secure at work again.
Now, to you that read this page. Thanks for all the words of encouragement during this week. It really did help.
Anyway.........
Once again I have demonstrated my superiority over my computer. Since I built my current computer I have been getting this weird hum through my speakers. I final found the problem: a faulty component on the sound card. So it was off to Circuit City to buy the new card. Being the compulsive shopper that I am I also returned home with new speakers (they rock, thank you for asking). After arguing with Windows for about an hour I heard my first clear sound. Victory was mine. Now I can play my violent games in surround sound. Listen as the entrails splatter behind you. It’s a beautiful thing :-p
Loki and I are going to visit my parents and grandparents tomorrow. I can’t wait to see his reaction to the llama’s first hand. From what I was told Loki likes the llamas but they don’t know what to make of him. Should be funny.
Tonight I intend to get some much needed rest. I didn’t sleep all that much this week. So with that said I am off to bed.
