I found something out today. Coming into work and finding out that most of your team has been fired is NOT the worst feeling in the world. Finding out that some of the rest may be let go and not being able to tell them is THE WORST feeling ever. I don't know how I will be able to look them in the face tomorrow. I am working my ass off trying to help save their jobs but I don't know if I can do it. I only found out this afternoon and they are making the decision tomorrow morning. This isn’t the sort of thing they teach at school. FILO (first in, last out) should not be the basis for firing. This is a radical thought but how about using PERFORMANCE as the basis. Sounds crazy, I know. I guess that’s why I wasn’t a business major in college (apologies to any who read this that were business majors, I am only referring to the ones at my company). So, as my partner would say, “Now we will see if s#$%balls can build it.”

Once again the “brains” of my company are showing me just how “bright” they are. UGGGHHH! I can just see the meeting now,
Exec 1 - Hey, the switch is almost ready. Hmmm, how can we get it faster?
Exec 2 – I don’t know. Should we have them write more status reports or force them to do more paperwork?
Exec 1 – That’s a given. What else could we do that would help?
Exec 3 – I’ve got it!!! We already got rid of the guys who could redesign parts, right?
ALL – Yes, Yes we did.
Exec 3 – Now lets get rid of the ones who know how to build it.
Exec 1 – Brilliant!!! How about a raise. We’ll have some extra money soon.
ALL – HA HA

This hasn’t happened yet but the fact that it is being considered REALLY pisses me off. You know the difference between my company and the Titanic? The Titanic had a band.

If they do this our project is set back 3 months. This is a conservative number. The other process engineer is considering leaving if this happens. This would not bode well for me. I already do the work of 2 engineers as it is. Oh well….

Moving on:

Oh, I taught Loki how to sit. I was very excited about this last night. After today I am just happy he listens to me. My 3-month-old dog has a skill some VP’s I know don’t have. Hmmmm

Just being awake is making my brain hurt. Good night
